Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 21, 2026Last updated: July 21, 2026
This policy explains what information Lomren collects through our website and mobile app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. Lomren is a caregiver-support tool built by a small team — this policy is written to describe plainly what we actually do, not to read as generic boilerplate.
1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy covers two things: the Lomren website at lanterncaregiver.com (including the Early Access sign-up form), and the Lomren mobile app for caregivers. It does not cover third-party websites or services that Lomren links to, which have their own privacy practices.
2. Information we collect
Early Access sign-up.When you join the Early Access list on our website, we collect the email address you provide, the time you consented to be contacted, a one-way cryptographic hash of the IP address your request came from (never the IP address itself), and your browser's user-agent string. The IP hash exists only to help us detect abusive or automated sign-up attempts — it is not used to identify you.
Contacting us directly. If you email us, we receive whatever information you choose to include in that message, such as your email address and the contents of your message.
Mobile app account information. Creating a Lomren account requires an email address, which is verified and managed through our authentication provider, Clerk. Your account may also include a name and profile photo if you choose to add one through Clerk, and, within the app, a display name, your relationship to the person you care for, a short bio, your timezone, and your language preference.
Caregiving and Loved One information you choose to enter. The Lomren app is built around information you enter yourself. Depending on how you use it, this may include: your loved one's name, date of birth, relationship to you, diagnosis notes, allergies, safety notes, preferred hospital, and their physician's name and phone number; daily and doctor-visit routine notes; daily check-in answers (overall day, mood, sleep, appetite, mobility, medication adherence, and any notes you add); medications, care tasks, appointments, and care goals; emergency contacts; shared notes and messages posted to your Care Circle; and your own messages in conversations with the Lomren AI companion. Lomren's data model includes an optional profile photo field for a loved one's profile, though the app does not currently provide a way to capture or upload a photo for that field.
Family / Care Circle sharing. If you invite other caregivers to your Care Circle, the information above that belongs to a shared loved one's profile becomes visible to the members you invite, based on the role (admin, caregiver, or viewer) you assign them. You are responsible for deciding who you invite.
Device, diagnostic, and notification information. If the app crashes or encounters an error, technical diagnostic information may be sent to our error-monitoring provider, Sentry, to help us fix the problem — this reporting is configured to avoid sending free-text content you've entered where technically feasible, though as with any error-monitoring tool we cannot guarantee that a crash report will never incidentally include a fragment of on-screen data. If you enable push notifications, we register a device push token with Apple's and Google's notification services (delivered via Expo's push notification service) so we can send you reminders and updates you have opted into. If you have analytics-eligible interactions with the app, we may record a limited, predefined set of event names and properties (for example, that a check-in was completed) through our analytics provider, PostHog — this does not include the free-text content of your check-ins, notes, or AI conversations.
3. AI processing
When you use the Lomren AI companion, the messages you send — along with the caregiving context needed to generate a relevant response — are transmitted to our configured AI service provider (OpenAI) to generate a reply. This means content you type into an AI conversation may be processed by that third-party provider under its own data-handling terms, in addition to Lomren's own. We do not currently offer a way to opt specific conversations out of AI processing, since AI processing is how that feature works. If you would rather not have particular information reviewed by our AI provider, do not enter it into an AI conversation.
4. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Lomren website and app.
- To create and secure your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
- To let you record, organize, and reflect on caregiving information you choose to enter.
- To let you share information with the Care Circle members you invite.
- To generate AI-assisted responses and reflections when you use those features.
- To send you Early Access updates, account-related notices, and — if you've enabled them — push notifications.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, or misuse of the sign-up form and the app.
- To diagnose and fix technical problems.
- To comply with legal obligations that may apply to us.
5. Service providers we use
We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate Lomren. We share information with each of them only as needed for the purpose described:
- Clerk — authentication and account management for the mobile app.
- OpenAI — generates responses for the Lomren AI companion feature.
- Sentry — error monitoring and crash diagnostics.
- PostHog — limited, predefined product-analytics events within the mobile app.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to your device, when enabled.
- Resend — sends Early Access confirmation emails from the website.
- Database and application hosting providers that store Lomren's data and run its servers, located in the United States.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
6. Email communications
When you join the Early Access list, you'll receive a confirmation email, and we may email you with updates about Early Access. We also use the email address you provide internally to be notified when a new person signs up. We do not currently offer an automated unsubscribe link — if you'd like to stop receiving Early Access emails, contact us at hello@lanterncaregiver.com and we will remove you.
7. Data retention
We retain Early Access sign-up information and mobile app account information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, respond to you, and meet the purposes described in this policy. When you delete your Lomren account, or ask us to delete your Early Access sign-up, we remove or deactivate the associated records, subject to any copies that may briefly persist in backups or logs until those are rotated in the ordinary course of our infrastructure's operation. We do not currently publish a fixed automatic deletion schedule beyond this.
8. Security
We take reasonable, industry-standard measures intended to protect the information you share with us, including transmitting data over encrypted connections and restricting who can access production systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We do not claim compliance with any specific named security certification or framework.
9. Your choices
Mobile app account and data. From inside the app, you can update your profile information, remove a Care Circle member, and delete your account, which removes your personal account data from active use in the ways described in Section 7 above.
Early Access sign-up. To have your Early Access sign-up information corrected or deleted, contact us at hello@lanterncaregiver.com.
For any other question about the information we hold about you, reach out using the contact information in Section 12 below and we will do our best to help.
10. Medical disclaimer
Lomren is a caregiver-support tool intended to help you organize, reflect on, and communicate about caregiving. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and is not a substitute for professional medical care. Lomren is not monitored in real time and is not designed or intended for use in a medical emergency — if you or someone you care for needs emergency help, contact emergency services directly.
11. Children's privacy
Lomren is intended for adult caregivers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
12. United States processing
Lomren is operated from, and its data is processed and stored in, the United States. If you access Lomren from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your home country.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Lomren's product and practices evolve. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know, such as through the app or by email.
14. Contact us
Questions about this Privacy Policy or your information can be sent to hello@lanterncaregiver.com. For help with the app itself, see our Contact page.
